The Monstera deliciosa, commonly known as the Swiss cheese plant, is a botanical beauty that graces homes with its distinctive appearance. This tropical plant is characterized by large, glossy, heart-shaped leaves that develop unique splits and holes as it matures.
Care Instructions
Light: Monstera Deliciosa prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight for prolonged periods, as this can lead to leaf burn.
Watering: Water your Monstera thoroughly, but allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry out before watering again. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
Soil: Use well-draining peat based soil mix.
Temperature: This tropical plant thrives in average to warm temperatures between 65°F to 85°F (18°C to 29°C). Protect it from cold drafts or sudden temperature drops.
Humidity: The Monstera Deliciosa enjoys higher humidity levels. If the air in your home is dry, consider using a humidifier or placing a tray of water near the plant to increase humidity.
Fertilizer: During the growing season (spring and summer), feed your Monstera with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 2-4 weeks. In fall and winter, you can reduce the frequency or stop fertilizing altogether.
Pet Information: Toxic to pets if ingested.
