Known for its striking foliage, the Calathea Lancifolia, or Rattlesnake Plant, is a must-have for any indoor plant collection. The Rattlesnake Plant showcases a unique pattern of dark green markings, accented by a rich purple underside. Its long, slender leaves move throughout the day to night, making it a living piece of décor.
Care Instructions:
Light: Calathea Rattlesnake Plants prefer medium to low indirect light. They can handle less sunlight than many other plants, making them perfect for indoor conditions.
Watering: Rattlesnake Plants prefer consistently moist soil but don't like to be overly waterlogged. During the growing season (spring and summer), water your plant when the top inch of soil becomes dry to the touch. During the dormant season (fall and winter), allow the top two inches of soil to dry out before watering. Use lukewarm, distilled, or rain water to avoid leaf spotting caused by minerals found in tap water.
Humidity: Calathea plants are native to tropical environments and thus prefer high humidity. Consider placing your plant on a tray filled with pebbles and a little water or use a humidifier to increase the humidity levels.
Temperature: Calathea Lancifolia prefers a warm environment and does not tolerate cold drafts or temperatures below 60°F (15°C). The ideal temperatures for your plant are between 70°F (21°C) and 85°F (29°C).
Fertilizer: Feed your Rattlesnake Plant with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength every month during the growing season. Do not fertilize during the winter.
Pet Information: Non-toxic for pets. Suitable for pet-friendly environments.
